Skeletons As Friends

In contrast to the introspective tone of On Grey Day, this series of artwork, Skeletons as Friends presents a quieter, more lighthearted series. Within this body of work, Lost Souls and skeleton figures are seen simply spending time together and existing side by side in the world of The Lost Soul Kingdom.

From an early age, Kiv Bui developed a deep fascination with skeletal anatomy. She collected and drew skeletal doodles whenever she could, until she was pressured to stop. Years later, she returned to that passion and began building her own magical universe: a world filled with skeletal guardians, hidden treasures, and the elements she loves most: dark academia, psychology, antiques, and her signature grayscale palette.

Through these illustrations, the skeleton is no longer something separate or feared, but a familiar presence, part of oneself, made visible as a form of quiet companionship. The distance between forms softens, revealing a sense of acceptance.

The Lost Soul Kingdom is a world within the self, and Skeletons as Friends reflects the desire for companionship in moments of simple existence, sharing time, space, and stillness in ways that feel peaceful.
